Enjoying a warm day by the ocean

Ron's dedication to filming countless sunrises fills me with adoration.  As I have admitted in an earlier blog, I am not as motivated to get up out of bed at such an early hour.  It is my opinion, that if you can't begin your attendance to a sunrise at daybreak, well you have probably missed the better part.  Probably a lame excuse don't you think?  Yesterday (actually it was Sunday night) I made a commitment to get out of bed before the sun came up to participate fully in the Monday morning "sunrise event".  Ron and I agreed that he would wake me at 6:45 for sunrise at 7:20.  Lo and behold, I wake up and crack open my eye to scan the clock only to see that it was 6:50!
What!?!  I jumped out of bed wondering why Ron had not awaken me.  Well he said that I was sleeping so soundly that he did not have the heart to wake me up!  Goodness!  What I can I say?  Not every husband is so sweet. Each day I am very grateful that he is so considerate, but get out of my way, I want to see the sunrise!  LOL!  And I did!  Listen, I can dress and get out the door quickly if I think I won't come into direct contact with other people.  I know my effort was worth it, for the following picture is just one of many that illustrate the beauty of the rising orb.
To counter the argument that if you have seen one, you have seen them all, I offer the following picture, which is a the sunrise from the prior day. Fabulous, huh?
It's okay to say "wow" outloud, for surely the beauty that only our Creator can give and my husband desires to record is worthy of great praise.  As we walked the beach home, heading west, we could not help but notice how the sunrise illuminated the Lanier Bridge in the distance.  So soft with a beautiful pink glow.  What a surprise!  Once again, I am so happy Ron loves to take pictures, because in an instant the pink glow was replaced by steely grey.
After my early morning adventure, I needed time to regroup so I decided to opt out of our planned trip to Cannon's Point.  Ron loaded up his bike to explore this preserve that once had been an abandoned plantation.  I will leave the telling of that journey to Ron, if he chooses.
When Ron returned we decided to head down to the beach, not to walk but to simply sit in our beach chairs and enjoy the sounds and views of the ocean.  What fun!  As we basked in the 75 degree day, we were treated to the joy of porpoises swimming nearby.  Kudos to Ron for managing to get a picture of one.  Not that easy to do.
Another fun aspect of our location is that it happens to be a shipping lane.  There is a huge car depot in Brunswick, GA which is immediately west of St. Simons, beyond the Lanier Bridge.  Yesterday we had the fun of watching the maneuverings of two huge container ships as they headed to port.  First we observed the dredger "The Terrapin" work to ensure the channel was clear and open for the ships.  Next we watched as the pilot boat "The Glynn" raced back and forth to each ship  delivering the specialized maritime boat pilots whose duty would be to bring this huge ship safely thru the local channel.  Needless to say we were fascinated and happy that we had our binoculars with us. My final photo is the ship safely headed to port as the sun set in the sky.  It was another great day on St. Simons!  On to the next!

Peace and love to all!
